Basseterre: St. Kitts, February 23, 2026: — The Vanta E. Walters Daycare Centre recently celebrated its 33rd Anniversary with a vibrant week of activities under the theme, “Healthy Habits Nourish Healthy Hearts.”
The initiative focused on educating children about food sources, agriculture, and the importance of healthy living.
The anniversary celebrations officially began on Sunday, February 15th, with a staff blessing service at the Pentecostal Church of God. Following the service, staff members gathered for breakfast at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.
On Monday, February 16th, the school observed its official anniversary with an In-House Church Service, setting a reflective and thankful tone for the week ahead.
Activities continued Tuesday, February 17th, when preschoolers embarked on an educational field trip to Gideon Farm in Verchilds and learned firsthand about farming and food production.
On Wednesday, February 18th, students enjoyed a Backyard Zoo experience, with animals on display. The activity reinforced lessons about animal care and highlighted how certain animals contribute to food sources and nutrition.
A “Farmer in the Dell” Backyard Garden Farming activity was held on Thursday, February 19th, featuring students and staff dressed in farmer attire—overalls, jeans, and plaid while participating in planting exercises. Appreciation was extended to Mr. Belle, Director of the School Meals Farm, for assisting with ploughing the daycare’s farm and donating planting materials. Parents and staff also contributed fruits and vegetables to support the planting initiative.
The week concluded on Friday, February 20th, with a School Picnic and Fun Day held at the National Heroes Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students wore their school T-Shirts proudly as they participated in recreational activities, celebrating excellence in early childhood education at the Industrial Site Day Care, renamed the Vanta E Walters Day Care Centre in 2025The celebrations highlighted the daycare’s continued commitment to fostering healthy habits, community partnerships, and holistic development as it marks 33 years of dedicated service.
