LEONIE JAMES PRE-SCHOOL CELEBRATES 50 YEARS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, Tuesday, March 24, 2026: Leonie James Pre-School marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, March 24th, with a 50th Anniversary Church Service celebrating five decades of educational excellence and community impact.

The commemorative service brought together students, teachers, parents, alumni, and well-wishers in a spirit of gratitude and reflection. It served as an opportunity to honour the institution’s long-standing contribution to early childhood education and its impact on generations of young learners. A highlight of the celebration was the presentation of awards recognizing the contributions of individuals who have shaped the legacy of the school.

Among the honourees was Mrs. Leonie James, after whom the school is named, receiving a special recognition award for her lifelong dedication to early childhood education. Past supervisors were also acknowledged for their leadership and service, alongside former parents who received the Past Parents Appreciation Award.

Current staff members were celebrated for their ongoing commitment, with special recognition given for long service. Ms. Diane McSheen, who has dedicated over 33 years to the school, and Josephine Morton, with 20 years of service, were honoured for their unwavering dedication and contribution to nurturing generations of young learners.

The golden anniversary celebration stands as a testament to the school’s enduring mission and its positive influence within the community. As Leonie James Pre-School looks ahead, it remains committed to providing quality education and building a strong foundation for future generations.

Leonie James Pre-School was formerly known as the Victoria Road Pre-School, which was renamed in 2025 as a symbol of Mrs. Leonie James’ pioneering work in changing the face of Early Childhood Education in the Federation.
