Basseterre: St. Kitts, Wednesday, October 01, 2025: The Ministry of Education launched its annual In-service Training Programme on Tuesday, September 30, under the theme “Transforming Education Through Self-Renewal, Holistic Partnership & Digital Solutions.” This opening ceremony signaled the start of weekly In-service training sessions for new teachers organized by the Ministry for the 2025–2026 academic year.
In his address, Chief Education Officer Mr. Francil Morris stated that the Ministry’s In-service Programme aims to prepare educators to shape the future of their students.
“Today is the beginning of a journey to assist you in becoming the kind of educator who will touch the lives of the students who will be looking to you for guidance, inspiration, and care. As educator Rita Pierson once said, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.”
Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, highlighted the programme’s goal of strengthening teachers’ skills, encouraging full engagement, and boosting student achievement.
“As a Ministry, we are fully committed to supporting you on this journey of professional growth. We see in you the key agents of transformation. That is why we continue to invest in opportunities such as this—because your development as educators translates into better learning outcomes for our students, stronger schools, and ultimately a more empowered nation. I encourage you to approach this training with an open mind and a willing spirit.”
The In-service Training, which forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence, will seek to provide new educators with the skills, strategies, and professional grounding necessary to succeed in the classroom.
